Services Provided in 2015

  • Behavioural Outreach: 75 individual cases served in 2015
  • Therapeutic Supports:  513 subsidised sessions provided in 2015 (SLT and OT)
  • Individual Advocacy: 234 individual cases handled in 2015.
  • National Advocacy: ongoing dialogue with multiple government departments and cabinet ministers.
  • Awareness Campaigns: IAA has developed Autism Friendly campaigns with DAA and Tayto Park – training staff and providing tools to facilitate people on the spectrum in both facilities
  • Issuance of (holographic) Autism ID cards – including negotiation of member privileges that come with them (rapid access through Dublin Airport, for example).
  • Helpline Support: constant daily enquiries on a wide range of issues.

 

  • Training: (in conjunction with our partner Early Childhood Ireland)
  • Autism Specific training provided to 694 teachers in non special schools. Phase 2 of this training proceeds in Q3, 2016.
  • Brought in the ESDM (Early Service Denver Model): this is an innovative early intervention programme, developed in Australia. We brought trainers from Australia for a “train the trainer” course for 20 professionals in Ireland.
  • Step Ahead: we ran 4 X 14 week courses: this is a multi-disciplinary training course for parents of children newly diagnosed with autism.
  • Establishment of dedicated website for ECI members: www.accessautism.ie
